Changelog

Creating a platform like SpaceBoard is obviously nothing which can be done during one night. Believe us, we tried. But every time we thought we came closer to a state which can be presented publicly, we thought of a billion additional things which were just too cool to miss out on. There are endless possibilities with such a platform and we found it difficult to decide which features to include already on Day 1. People we have been talking to, especially those to whom we shown a sneak peak of our website, have been positively urging us to finally launch our service. It is now with pronounced pleasure that after our first extensive, rewarding and joyful development period we can present SpaceBoard - THE SPACE NETWORK to you.

Much of our energy, time, dedication and passion has flown into every single line of code that hold together this site. We are offering you a platform, which provides you with the tools to define your public appearance in the space industry and showcase what you are made of or where your interests lie. SpaceBoard is about networking, so feel free to manically request a link with every Board you encounter and deem noteworthy. By doing this, you can stay informed about events or other people's transmissions and feel part of the vivid and enthusiastic space community.

Messages offer you a more private means of communication in case you find yourself in the need of a little secrecy whilst transmissions are being broadcasted to everybody you have a link with. Want to leave a message for somebody for the world to see? Visit their Board and interfere on their transmission broadcast to share your view.

On the Exploration Board you can discover all Boards on SpaceBoard - perfect if you are in search for a study programme to start after your Bachelor or when looking for the next big space event to attend.

Whilst our way of navigating this platform is new and might be considered a bold step, we see it as an idiomatic, intuitive and fresh approach in order to flatten out the complex structure that is unavoidable on such a network. Give it a try and we are sure you will find it easy to use and fast, especially when you know exactly what you're looking for. Multiple ways of navigating are supported to give you all the freedom you deserve:

  1. Alternative: click on the names of the various columns on a Board to directly jump to those. Think of these links as tabs on websites that you're used to.
  2. Alternative: click the empty white space between modules and columns and drag it left or right to adjust the position of the content.
  3. Alternative: click and drag the thin scrollbar below the tabs to move the content left and right.
  4. Alternative: if you happen to have a trackpad or mouse capable of scrolling horizontally, use that.

If you have difficulties on any part of the platform you will find nice little Fast Feedback buttons all over the website to quickly provide us with a simple piece of advice or opinion about a particular feature. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of those!

For those interested in what's new on SpaceBoard, be sure to checkout the What's New link under the Explore menu to find more articles like that, informing you about major new feature updates. For everything that we do in between those announcements, check the little Changelog transmissions that will pop up on your Board.

On behalf of the SpaceBoard team we would like to officially open the doors and welcome you to SpaceBoard!

Have fun and enjoy!

Introducing: Official Organisation Boards on SpaceBoard

We are pleased to announce that from now on organisations have the possibility to have one or several official coordinators for their Board on the platform. Coordinators will be able to post updates on behalf of the organisation and directly interact with the community. They will also be able to edit the Organisation information.

The Unexpected Gifts of Space

Since times immemorial, there has been a huge hue and cry over the ostensibly large sums of money we spend on research and development in space technology with no apparent benefits to mankind. This, however, can’t be further away from the truth. We have seen, in the past five decades, that not only has the space industry itself grown in leaps and bounds, but it has also led to advancements in the vastly different fields of science that are associated with it.

Your Organisation on SpaceBoard

If you are interested in showcasing your organisation on SpaceBoard you can now create a separate Board for it directly on the platform! You will be immediately assigned as its coordinator, allowing you to broadcast transmissions in the name of your organisation as well as edit all its information visible on SpaceBoard.
